A Neurodivergent-Friendly Maker Studio in Soham, Cambridgeshire
What is Autivate?
Autivate is a mentoring-focused creative maker space for autistic and ADHD individuals. Run by an autistic mentor, it's a calm, hands-on workshop where people can learn, make, and explore at their own pace. Sessions are always 1-to-1 or in very small groups (no more than 3), with zero pressure and full support. You can come with a goal or just a curiosity.
What can you do or learn?
- Learn to use tools like laser cutters, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, and CNC
- Try ceramics, clay building, and kiln firing
- Build electronics, solder, fix or modify gadgets
- Learn to write code, develop games, Minecraft mods or plugins
- Experiment with robotics, sensors, and automation
- Create video content or livestream with pro gear
- Explore AI tools, creative coding, or design workflows
- DIY science experiments
What’s in the studio?
- Laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and large format printers
- 3D printers, CNC router, ceramics and enamelling kilns
- Electronics bench, robotics tools, and soldering gear
- Coding and software development rigs, servers and our own Minecraft Server
- Digital audio production, and media gear
- Photography and video setup, live streaming equipment
- Aquaponics systems, DIY science kits, and more
Who’s it for?
- Autistic or ADHD teens and adults (age 16+ preferred)
- Neurodivergent people who feel stuck, anxious, or burnt out
- No formal diagnosis required
You don’t need experience. You don’t need a plan. You just need to want to try something. This is a chill, 1-to-1 environment with total flexibility.
Session Options
- Free intro session - 1 hour (no strings)
- 1:1 session - £40 for 2 to 3 hours (1 person)
- Shared session - £30 per person for 2 to 3 hours (max 3 people)
Volunteer for Studio Time
If you're interested in using the space but can't afford regular sessions, you can volunteer in exchange for studio access. Tasks might include:
- Cleaning or organising tools and workspaces
- Basic maintenance of equipment (with guidance)
- Helping with creative projects or studio setup
- Assisting with filming, testing, or material prep
